How to say the words
fun and funny in the Thai language
Hi everybody!
In this learning Thai lesson, we will learn Thai words for “Fun” and “Funny”.
Thai’s generally love to have fun so you will here these words a lot in general conversation and you may well be asked this by your Thai friends if you are talking about going somewhere or have done something interesting.
1) “Fun” in Thai is /sà-nùk/.
For example:
หนังเรื่องนี้สนุกมาก! /nǎng rᵾ̂ang níi sà-nùk mâak/
= This movie is very fun!
สงกรานต์ที่เชียงใหม่สนุกมาก /sǒng-graan tîi chiang-mài sà-nùk mâak/
= The Songkran festival in Chiangmai was very fun.
The word /sà-nùk/ can be “have fun” as well.
วันนี้ฉัน (ผม) สนุกจริงๆ /wan-níi chán (pǒm) sà-nùk jing-jing/
= I really have fun today.
2) “Funny” is /dtà-lòk/
For example:
หนังเรื่องนี้ตลกมาก คนดูหัวเราะมาตั้งแต่เริ่มต้น
/nǎng rᵾ̂ang níi dtà-lòk mâak, kon-duu hǔa-rɔ́ maa dtâng-dtɛ̀ɛ rә̂әm-dtôn/
= This movie is very funny. Audiences have been laughing since the beginning.
รูปนี้ฉันดูตลก เห็นไหมว่าฉันกำลังอ้าปาก
/rûup níi chán duu dtà-lòk, hěn mái wâa chán gam-lang âa bpàak/
= I look funny in this photo. See? My mouth is opening.
