Mother’s Day | วันแม่Mother's Day

Sawatdii ka everyone,

The 12th August is celebrated as the birthday of  Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. As the Queen is regarded as the mother to all Thai people, this day is also celebrated as Mother’s Day /wan-mae / วันแม่.

The symbol of maternal love on the Mother’s Day is ” White Jasmine which is call dawk ma-li /ดอกมะลิ  or garlands which are given by children to their dear mother.

In Thailand, we have a holiday on Mother’s Day and Thai people take this day as an opportunity to return to their hometown to spend time together with their beloved mother and family. What will we do on this day? Well, the favourite gift is white jasmine or garlands to give to our dear mother. Charitable activities, donations, offerings to monks are also an important part of the day to express the child’s love and gratitude towards mother.

I hope you all have a good time on Mother’s Day and Don’t forget to tell your mum how you love her !! ” Rak mae maak maak ka ‘ I love you mum /รักแม่มาก มาก นะคะ
