In this blog, we will learn the speak Thai with a Purpose Clause.
“In order to” is used in the purpose clause which it is started with “เพื่อ(ที่)จะ” /pûa (tîi) jà/.
For example:
เขามาประเทศไทยเพื่อ(ที่)จะหางานทำ
/káo maa bprà têet thai pûa (tîi) jà hǎa ngaan tam/
= He/She comes to Thailand in order to find a job.
ผมทำงานหนักเพื่อ(ที่)จะเก็บเงินมากๆ
/pǒm tam-ngaan nàk pûa (tîi) jà gèp ngәn mâak mâak/
= I work hard in order to save lots of money.
น้องสาวของฉันไม่กินข้าวเย็นเพื่อ(ที่)จะลดความอ้วน
/nɔ́ɔng-sǎao kɔ̌ɔng chán mâi gin kâao yen pûa (tîi) jà lót kwaam-ûan/
= My younger sister does not eat dinner in order to lose her weight.
