Rain Season Phrases and Vocabulary
เมื่อไหร่จะเป็นฤดูฝนของไทย mʉ̂a-rài jà bpen rʉ́-duu fŏn kᴐ̆ᴐng Thai
When is the rainy season in Thailand?
Rainy season (ฤดูฝน) in Thailand runs from June to October. In Thai, you can say “rʉ́-duu” or “nâa” for “season”. This is when Thailand gets the majority of it’s rainfall though it does rain in the Cold Season (Winter) and in the Hot Season (Summer) but not so regularly.
Let’s learn some Thai Vocabulary about the different types of “rain” from our photo 🙂
- It’s going to rain = ฝนกำลังจะตก / fŏn gamlang jà dtòk
- It’s starting to rain = ฝนตกแล้ว / fŏn dtòk lέεw
- Rain cats and dogs = ฝนตกไม่ลืมหูลืมตา / fŏn dtòk mâi lʉʉm hŭu lʉʉm dtaa
- Don’t forget to bring an umbrella with you. = อย่าลืมเอาร่มไปด้วยนะ / yàa lʉʉm ao rôm bpai dûay na
- Remember to take a raincoat with you. = อย่าลืมเอาเสื้อกันฝนไปด้วยนะ / yàa lʉʉm ao sûa-gan-fŏn bpai dûay na
