By Oneself | เอง eeng

In this blog, we will learn how to say “by oneself” in Thai.

To say that someone does something by themselves, in Thai is เอง/eeng. The meaning is similar to English, it means that the person does something by themselves without any help.

The pattern is;

“Subject + verb + object + เอง /eeng/”

ลูกสาวของเขาไปโรงเรียนเอง /lûuk-sǎao kɔ̌ɔng-káo bpai roong-rian eeng/
= His daughter goes to school by herself.

เขาเรียนภาษาไทยเอง /káo rian paa-sǎa thai eeng/
= He learns Thai by himself.

พวกเขาทำอาหารเอง /pûak-káo tam aa-hǎan eeng/
= They cook by themselves.

คุณทำการบ้านนี้เองหรือเปล่า /kun tam gaan-bâan níi eeng rǔu-bplào/
= Did you do this homework by yourself?

ฉัน (ผม) ขับรถมาทำงานเอง /chán (pǒm) kàp rót maa tam-ngaan eeng/
= I drive to work by myself.
