Phrases and Vocabulary in Thai How to say, Didn’t in Thai

Hi everyone in this Thai lesson we are going to learn to say the negative past tense in Thai we use the pattern:

Mâi dâai  + Verb ( Phrase)   =   didn’t

/  ไม่ได้  + Verb( Phrase)   /

This is used to describe an action that did not take place in the past.

Example :

1. Chán mâi dâai bpai kɔ́ Sà-mèt  aa- tít tîi lɛ́ɛw.

/ ฉันไม่ได้ไปเกาะเสม็ดอาทิตย์ที่แล้ว /

Last week I didn’t go to Samet Island.

2. John mâi dâai bpai wâay – náam săam wan lɛ́ɛw.

/ จอห์นไม่ได้ไปว่ายน้ำสามวันแล้ว /

John didn’t go swimming for 3 days already.
