How to Sing the Thai National Anthem

The Thai National Anthem is an intrinsic part of daily Thai life. The Anthem is played twice a day at public locations, parks, schools, government buildings, BTS, the underground and broadcast across all media television and radio stations at 8 am and 6 pm. In all cases, all people must show respect by standing still silently until the Anthem is finished regardless of what you are doing. If you are visiting Thailand it is recommended that you also respect the National Anthem by also standing still silently during the playing.

For this Thai lesson, we have the whole Anthem with Thai script, transliteration and English. This is a useful thing to learn and test one’s knowledge of Thai:

เพลงชาติไทย /pleeng châat tai/

Thai National Anthem in Thai Script and Phonetic with English Translation

ประเทศไทยรวมเลือดเนื้อชาติเชื้อไทย

/bprà-têet tai ruam lûat-núa châat chúa tai/

Thailand is the unity of Thai blood and body.

เป็นประชารัฐ ไผทของไทยทุกส่วน อยู่ดำรงไว้ได้ทั้งมวล

/bpen bprà-chaa rát, pà-tai kɔ̌ɔng tai túk sùan, yùu dam-rong kong wái dâai táng muan/

The whole country belongs to the Thai people. Maintaining thus far the Thai nation.

ด้วยไทยล้วนหมาย รักสามัคคี

/dûai thai lúan mǎai, rák săa-mák-kii/

All Thais intend to unite together.

ไทยนี้รักสงบ แต่ถึงรบไม่ขลาด

/tai níi rák sà-ngòp, dtɛ̀ɛ tǔng róp mâi klàat/

Thais love peace, but are not afraid to fight.

เอกราชจะไม่ให้ใครข่มขี่

/èek-gà-râat jà mâi hâi krai kòm kìi/

They will never let anyone threaten their independence.

สละเลือดทุกหยาดเป็นชาติพลี

/sà-là lûat túk yàat bpen châat plii/

They will sacrifice every drop of their blood to contribute to the nation.

เถลิงประเทศชาติไทยทวี มีชัย ชโย

/tà-lə̌əng bprà-têet châat tai tá-wii, mii chai, chá-yoo/

They will serve their country with pride and prestige, full of victory. Chai Yo
