How to tell the time in Thai

Telling the time in ThaiHow to tell the time in Thailand

Telling the time in Thai is not the same as in Western languages. You need to know the clock pattern used.

In this Thai lesson we will learn and practice how the clock is broken into different parts in Thai language and culture:

Thai Clock AM

> 12 am | midnight = เที่ยงคืน  tîang-kʉʉn
> 1 – 5 am | very early morning = ตี __#__ / dtii __#__ /
> 6 – 11 am | morning  = __#__ โมง(เช้า) / __#__ moong (cháo) /

Thai Clock PM

> 12 pm | midday  –  เที่ยง /tîang/
> 1 pm | early afternoon = บ่ายโมง / bàai moong /
> 2 – 3 pm | mid afternoon = บ่าย __#__ โมง / bàai  __#__ moong /
> 4 – 6 pm  |  late afternoon = __#__ โมง(เย็น) / __#__ moong (yen) /
> 7 – 11 pm | evening = 1 – 5 + ทุ่ม / __#__ tûm /
