“…ไหม /mái/” is an information-seeking question particle used in neutral questions which do not anticipate either a positive or negative response. Requiring a ‘Yes/No’ answer and is occurs at the end of a sentence.

For Example:

Do you understand?                         (คุณ)เข้าใจไหม /(kun) káo-jai mái/

Do you like Thai food?                      คุณชอบอาหารไทยไหม /kun chɔ̂ɔp aa-hǎan tai mái/

Is Thailand hot?                                ประเทศไทยร้อนไหม /bprà-têet tai rɔ́ɔn mái/

To answer the simple “…ไหม /mái/” questions are formed as follows:

Yes:  repeat Verb or Adjective

No:   ไหม /mâi/ + repeat Verb or Adjective

But if in the question includes verb and adjective, in this case we normally used verb in responses or if the question includes more than one verb, the first verb is normally used in responses. But if the question includes Adverb, we have to repeat Adverb as well.
