In this blog, we will learn about the Thai verb, ไว้ wái .

The verb, ไว้ wái occurs after an action verb or verb phrase, it conveys a sense that those verbs are being done for future use.

For example,

ฉันจองตั๋วรถไฟไว้แล้ว

/káo jɔɔng dtǔa rót-fai wái lɛ́ɛw/

= He has booked train ticket already.

ขอฝากกระเป๋าไว้ที่นี่ได้ไหม

/kɔ̌ɔ fàak grà-bpǎo wái tîi-nîi dâi mái?/

= Can I leave my bag here?

แม่ทำอาหารเย็นไว้ให้ลูก

/mɛ̂ɛ tam aa hǎan yen wái hâi lûuk-lûuk/

= Mother cooked/prepared dinner for children.
