Awesome
in Thai Slang
Hi everyone,
In this online Thai lesson, we will learn the Thai slang awesome.
For the word “awesome” or “that’s cool” in Thai we say, สุดยอด /sùt-yɔ̂ɔt/ (supreme) or เจ๋ง /jěng/.
You will hear the particle อ้ะ /âh/ at the end. This particle is normally used by teenagers.
Awesome Thai Slang Example 1:
A: คิดว่าอันนี้เป็นไงบ้างอ้ะ /kít wâa an-níi bpen ngai bâang âh/
= What do you think about this one?
B: เจ๋งอ้ะ /jěng âh/
= Awesome!
Awesome Thai Slang Example 2:
A: นักร้องคนนั้นเสียงสุดยอดอ้ะ /nák-rɔ́ɔng kon nán sǐang sùt-yɔ̂ɔt âh/
= That’s singer has an awesome voice!
B: ใช่ ฉันเคยไปดูคอนเสิร์ตของเขา เจ๋งมากอ้ะ /châi chán kәәi bpai duu kɔɔn-sә̀әt kɔ̌ɔng káo, jěng mâak âh/
= Yes. I have been to his/ her concert. It was very cool!
