The question ‘How much?’ are formed using the pattern ‘(Subject) + Verb + tâo-rài(How much?)’. ‘tâo-rài’ always occurs at the end of the question.

For example;

  • นี่เท่าไร (nîi tâo-rài) = How much is this?
  • เขาซื้อเท่าไร (káo súu tâo-rài) = How much did he buy it for?
  • คุณขายบ้านเท่าไร (kun kăai bâan tâo-rài) = How much did you sell the house for?

Questions which ask ‘How much per ….. ?’, are formed using the pattern ‘(Noun) + Classifier + lá(per)  tâo-rài(How much?)’

For example;

  • แตงโมโลละเท่าไร (dtaeng-moo loo lá  tâo-rài) = How much are watermelons a kilo?
  • ปีละเท่าไร (bpii lá  tâo-rài) = How much a year?
  • คนละเท่าไร (kon lá  tâo-rài) = How much per person?
