How to say Must

or Have to in Thai

Hi everyone in this blog we will learn about the Thai Verb to “Must or Have to“. In the Thai language, we use the word “dtͻ̂ͻng” ต้อง “ which always occurs before another verb.

dtͻ̂ͻng  +   Verb      =  Must/ Have to

mâi dtͻ̂ͻng  +  verb    =  Must not / have not to ..

 

Example:

1.Pǒm  dtͻ̂ͻng glàp bprà-teet Ang-grìt  aa-tít  nâa.

ผมต้องกลับประเทศอังกฤษเดือนหน้า

I have to come back to UK next week.

2. káo dtͻ̂ͻng bpai ráp fɛɛn tîi sà-nămbin.

เขาต้องไปรับแฟนที่สนามบิน

He/ She has to go to pick girlfriend/ boyfriend up at the Airport.

3. kun mâi dtͻ̂ͻng súe gaa-fae ná, chán súe leáw.

คุณไม่ต้องซื้อกาแฟนะ ฉันซื้อแล้ว

You don’t have to buy a coffee, I have bought one for you already.
